The art history of engraving can not been imagined without the impact of Dürer and the other members of the early German school.  Directly out of the middle ages they brought this art field to unknown heights. Below  prints made by Marcantonio Raimondi. (1480-1533) after Dürer designs.
 Dürer started a lawsuite agains Raimondi to stop him. This shows the close competition between two great masters
